Simón I. Patiño Foundation

Education

We train over 300 school teachers every year in the areas of reading, writing and reading comprehension

The educational programmes that take place in the Patiño Foundation’s Centres complement the Bolivian education system, particularly in the basic disciplines of reading, writing and oral expression at both primary and secondary school levels.

Each year, we train teachers in methods that can be used in the classroom. Also, students receive tutoring in, among other things, the promotion of reading. Central to our teaching is the protection of the environment. We have set up libraries in our Centres in rural communities of the Cochabamba department and in several schools in Santa Cruz.

At the senior level, our Foundation awards scholarships in Switzerland and other European countries, as well as Bolivia and Costa Rica. These scholarships are for students working towards a university degree in areas that would be of benefit to Bolivia. Additionally, local university students are regularly hosted in many of our Centres for practical training or help with their diploma projects, in subject areas such as health, agronomy and biology.
